4 reasons why you should let go of things that weren't meant to be.
It’s fair to say that in life, we all wanted something to work out. We try and try and try. However, deep down inside our gut, we know it’s not meant to be. No matter how much we want it, we just know it’s not good for us. You eventually hit a realization that it’s time to let it go, and move on.
Although it’s quite an euphoric feeling to reach this step, it’s still difficult to do so. When life places you in a conundrum where you feel like it’s time to let go of something that isn’t meant for you, it’s very important to remind yourself of the ‘why’. Why do you need to let go of it. Why do you need to move forward. Why do you need to move on.
We have outlined below four important reasons as to why you should let go of things that weren’t meant to be.
There's always something better coming.
Sometimes when we really want something in life, or we are certain that it was supposed to be a part of our life, we get caught up in that one thing. We obsess over it. We think that we can’t live without that one thing. It ultimately leaves us with a nebulous perception about our future. However, holding onto this mentality actually prevents you from opening up to life and it’s good surprises. Once you let go of something that wasn’t meant to be, you’ll soon realize that there’s always something better coming. You may not see it in the moment, but if you learn to trust life, you will learn to appreciate the new thing that’s going to enter your life.

You'll stop feeling more pain.
It’s safe to say that you wanted something to work out, but you know deep down that it’s not meant to be. Harping on what should and could have been will only cause you more pain. Stop thinking of hypothetical scenarios because that will only hinder your growth. In fact, sometimes in life, letting go of something actually does you more good than harm. This is because it will allow you to be open to what’s actually meant to happen, and not what you think is meant to happen.
Those are two completely different things, and it’s vital to acknowledge that. You may be totally distressed by things not working out, but constantly thinking about that will only perpetuate your feelings of emotional pain. You don’t want to always feel that way, so please learn to be kind to your soul.

You will learn to be less controlling and more accepting.
It’s evident that the vision you had about your circumstances may be completely different from what was actually meant to occur. However, sometimes when we really want something to work out in life, we tend to become controlling. We become possessive over that certain thing, to the point where we become obsessed. This can actually harm your inner peace because you aren’t learning to accept what you can’t control.
The harsh reality is, there’s many things in life that are out of our control. We need to learn how to adapt in these scenarios in a more healthy manner, as it will allow you to accept the fact that unexpected changes are not always a bad thing.

You will learn to be more introspective.
Learning how to be introspective is a critical quality to have if you want to grow as a person. Self-reflection is something that no one else can do for you. It’s an initiative you need to spearhead on your own. However, it’s a necessary one. As your gut feeling is telling you to let go of the thing that’s not meant to be, you will slowly learn how to interpret your inner feelings. You will learn why you feel a certain way, or whether it makes you feel like you’re betraying yourself.
Learning how to recognize these emotions are super important for all aspects in life. You can only do this by understanding why you feel a certain way, and how you can prevent putting yourself in situations in the future that are similar. Digging deep internally and reflecting is the only way you can accomplish this.

“In the process of letting go, you will lose many things from the past, but you will find yourself.”
